Oxnard Historical Farm Park

Agriculture, Historical

The Oxnard Historic Farm Park will include:

A museum in the main house which will be restored to its original 1870’s construction and design
A local history library constructed in the 1890s carriage house.
Restoration of the 1870s winery originally used to store the wine for the Santa Clara Chapel
A Courtyard of Memories consisting of 5,000 engraved bricks from brick sponsors
A small vineyard
A small orchard
Antique implements
Demonstration Crops of plants from the past
Display barn for tractors and thresher
Migrant Worker Wall
The Oxnard Historic Farm Park Foundation is a nonprofit group dedicated to the preservation of the two oldest structures on the Oxnard Plain and creating a home for Oxnard History.

I recently received a call from Ricardo Ordonez who wanted to do something to represent something for the migrant workers at the Farm Park. We came up with the idea of creating a mobile Migrant Worker Wall that we could add to and grow as we collect more photos and information. This will work well with our Saturday’s Farmers Market. We now have Dennis Kronenberger to build the display and David Kesterson to design it. Feel free to contact us to share your images to be displayed on our wall. Above is a picture of Braceros from Jalisco posing at the Ed Petit ranch.
MIGRANT WORKER WALL
History
On March 22, 2004– Ventura County Cultural Heritage Board approved Ventura County Landmark No. 165 – Gottfried Maulhardt/Albert Pfeiler Farm Site.
Our goal is to create a place where people can learn about the history of the area as well as share stories and pictures. Oxnard needs a home to document its past and connect the many groups of people who have come here and have contributed.

We also plan to publish our own set of biographical histories of the people and businesses of the Oxnard Plain. We want to tell an ongoing story.
