“The Condors Among Us ” at the Fillmore Historical Museum Depot.

On Saturday, May 5, at 4:00 PM , The Heritage Valley Tourism Bureau. (HVTB ) will host a free presentation entitled “The Condors Among Us ” at the Fillmore Historical Museum Depot. Experts from Friends of the California Condor Wild and Free, will discuss the California condor, how it is being saved from extinction, and how we can experience these noble giants.
The California Condor almost disappeared from the face of the earth due to careless human activity. Primarily due to lead poisoning from ammunition found in their food sources, there were only 22 condors left in 1982. Thanks to human intervention, today the condor is once again soaring over the Heritage Valley
This free presentation is part of the “HVTB Presents: ” series highlighting things to see and do in the “Heritage Valley”, the scenic historic Agricultural and small town communities along the HWY 126 corridor from I-5 to the city of Ventura. Reservations are appreciate, but not required.
Friends of California Condors Wild and Free is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to enhance public awareness of the endangered California Condor and ensure they are protected, healthy, and free. Also on May 5, the Fillmore and Western Railway will be offering a 10% condor discount on their Weekend Scenic four hour train ride through the Heritage Valley.
You can also visit the Fillmore Historical Museum that includes a condor diorama. Allow time to see the unique shops and eateries in Fillmore.
