While some of you may know that “Back to the Future: Part III” starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd was shot using the Ventura County Railroad spur located behind Hueneme’s Surfside I in 1990, how many of you also heard that Jesse L. Lasky and Fred Niblo built a bull fighting ring on Hueneme Beach in 1922? Lasky and Niblo were behind the silent movie “Blood and Sand,” starring Rudolph Valentino. Richard Senate, who is an established historian/lecturer specializing in early California history as well as the establishment of cities in western Ventura County, will be sharing his expertise about the time Hollywood came to Hueneme.
